McGuire SI Scholarship
The Center for Academic Success (CAS) created the Dr. Saundra Yancy McGuire Scholarship in honor of the accomplishments and impact that Dr. McGuire showed upon the Center, the LSU community and students. This scholarship is awarded to SI leaders who embody key characteristics displayed by Dr. McGuire: leadership, service, scholarship and love of learning and teaching.
Dr. McGuire retired from LSU in 2013, after 14 years. For 10 of those years, she was director of the CAS, a unit that received national and international acclaim during her tenure, and continues to garner accolades and awards.
Donations to this fund support the SI program at LSU, which serves more than 6,000 LSU students with more than 20,000 session visits per year. Students who attend three or more SI sessions earn a 0.5 letter grade higher than those who do not attend. This fund helps pay the salaries of deserving SI leaders and provides them with an additional award of $200 per semester in which they serve as an SI leader. It also supports the academic and personal success of all LSU students.
