Request a Certificate of Eligibility
Each term our office requires that you submit an updated Certificate of Eligibility or your most recent award letter with your enrollment certification request. You must maintain your records and keep copies of these documents should our office request them.
First Time Applicants
4-6 weeks after approving your benefit application, the VA will mail you a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) stating that you have been awarded an educational benefit. Our office requires a copy of this document before we can process your benefits. If you have not yet received your COE, you will need to contact the Department of Veterans Affairs Regional Office at: 1-888-442-4551
Transfer Students
If you are transferring your benefits to LSU from another institution, you must submit a Change of Program request through your eBenefits portal. Once the VA approves this transfer, they will issue you a new COE. Our office requires a copy of this document before we can process your benefits. If you have not yet received your COE, you will need to contact the Department of Veterans Affairs Regional Office at: 1-888-442-4551
Enrolled Students
All applicants for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® must submit an updated award letter each term they will be utilizing benefits. Each term that your enrollment is certified by LSU the VA will automatically generate and mail this letter to the address they have on file. Our office requires a copy of this document before we can process your benefits.
If you need to request a new letter or an updated COE, submit the request through the VA’s Submit a Question portal.
