Enrollment Certification
Once your schedule is finalized and you have registered for your courses, you may complete the LSU Enrollment Certification Request form. Check to be sure all areas have been addressed correctly before submitting. You must complete a new LSU Enrollment Certification Request form for each semester you plan to use VA Educational Benefits. Please allow up to 30 days for the processing of your benefits.
Once your benefits are applied to your account, you must complete your registration on your MyLSU account to secure your schedule. If you do not complete your registration by the payment deadline your classes will be purged.
- For all those requesting enrollment certification for federal VA educational benefits
(ex. Chp 30, 31, 33, 35, 1606 and 1607) complete and submit:

Section 702 of the Choice Act (in-state tuition):
- Effective August 1, 2021, Section 1005 of the Isakson and Roe Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020 removes the requirement for covered individuals to enroll in a course at a public institution of higher learning within three years of being discharged to receive in-state tuition.
- LSU will update an eligible student’s residency once the Enrollment certification form has been received.
Section 702 of The Choice Act
Louisiana is in compliance with Section 702 of the Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act of 2014 (“Choice Act”).
A covered individual is defined in the Choice Act as:
- A Veteran who lives in the state where the IHL (Institute of Higher Learning) is located
(regardless of his/her formal state of residence) and enrolls in the school within
three years of discharge from a period of active duty service of 90 days or more.
- An individual using transferred benefits who lives in the state where the IHL is located
(regardless of his/her formal state of residence) and enrolls in the school within
three years of the transferor’s discharge from a period of active duty service of
90 days or more.
- Anyone described above while he or she remains continuously enrolled (other than during regularly scheduled breaks between courses, semesters, or terms) at the same school. The person so described must have enrolled in the school prior to the expiration of the three year period following discharge or release as described above and must be using educational benefits under either chapter 30 or chapter 33, of title 38, United States Code.
- Anyone using transferred Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits who lives in the state where the IHL is located and the transferor is a member of the uniformed service who is serving on active duty.
- Anyone using benefits under the Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship who lives in the state where the IHL is located (regardless of his/her formal state of residence).
