Prof. Matthew Chambers

LSU Chemistry Professor Secures DOE Funding to Advance Sustainable Chemical Processes

October 14, 2024

Assistant Professor Matthew Chambers received an $875,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy Early Career Research Program to develop energy-efficient chemical processes for the petrochemical industry. Chambers aims to enhance a process called hydroformylation, a key reaction for producing fuels and plastics, by developing a new cobalt(II) catalyst that reduces energy consumption.

Musah brings a wealth of knowledge and research expertise in environmental chemistry, plant defense mechanisms, forensic science, and STEM education. Her interdisciplinary research combines innovative mass spectrometry techniques with a commitment to solving real-world environmental, health, and forensic-related challenges.
