About CxC
Launched in 2005, LSU CxC is a multifaceted program focused on cultivating students' multimodal skills in writing, speaking, visual and technological communication. LSU CxC operates with a holistic approach to undergraduate student learning by spearheading faculty development and training initiatives, integrating certified communication-intensive courses within the disciplines, providing direct student support and promoting university-wide student recognition opportunities.
Since the program began, the LSU CxC team has been researching, exploring, testing, creating, and applying Communication-Intensive (C-I) pedagogy within undergraduate courses at all levels, from freshman to senior, spanning all disciplines—from STEM and the social sciences, to the arts and humanities, and everything in between. LSU CxC is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of teachers, researchers, scholars, and practitioners committed to continuously investigating the connections and interactions between deep content learning and critical communication skills development within college classrooms across the disciplines.
LSU CxC was the sole recipient of the 2010 Program of Excellence Award by the Conference on College Composition and Communication, and was cited by the award committee as a program that “set the bar of innovation for learning and teaching.” In 2020, the USC Pullias Center for Higher Education, in collaboration with the American Association of Colleges & Universities, recognized CxC as a Delphi recipient for its progressive work in transforming faculty support and LSU’s institutional culture surrounding teaching excellence.
CxC is a dynamic program jointly funded by the university, the colleges it serves, regional and national grants and private gifts.
