Committees
We are dedicated to making a positive difference in student and family lives through the work of the committees below.
Since 2010, the LSU Family Association has awarded more than $250,000 in scholarships to students of Family Association members. The Family Scholarship Fund helps alleviates financial burdens on students through a $1,000 scholarship. Scholarship recipients are selected based on academic achievement, involvement, and leadership and/or service in the LSU community. Members serving on this Committee participate in the selection process (second round) by reviewing applicant resumes and responses to two short essay questions and submitting scores and recommendations to Student Affairs staff.
Campus Collaboration Grants are funded by the LSU Family Council and designed to enhance the student experience by supporting efforts aligned with the priorities of the Division of Student Affairs - mattering & belonging, inclusion & access, and quality. Each spring, campus units/organizations are eligible to apply for up to $5,000 in funding. Members of the Campus Collaboration Grant committee review applications and watch presentations, in order to award up to $10,000 annually.
Each year, the Family Council hosts a Silent Auction to raise funds for the LSU Student Emergency Support Fund. This fund benefits students in need of support in emergency situations and has assisted students who have lost everything after storms, hurricanes, fires, and other disasters. Members of the Silent Auction Committee oversee the collection of auction items and facilitate the auction.
