Agriculture Residential College
First-year students with a major in the College of Agriculture can live in Blake Hall and take classes with the same group of peers, creating a smaller network within the larger LSU campus from day one.
In this living-learning environment, the hands-on experiences and real-world introductions you are exposed to are unmatched. From Louisiana sugar cane field trips to behind the scenes tours of the LSU Vet School, it's all AG, all the time!

Hands-on Learning
Only ARC residents go on faculty-lead excursions with hands-on learning - from banding hummingbirds to chopping it up at kitchen demos.
Blake Hall
On one side of Blake Hall is Campus Lake and on the other is the 459 Commons dining hall. With a great location, Blake Hall is ready for Ag Res College students to study, relax, enjoy good food, and meet new friends.
To participate in the Ag Residential College, you must:
- Be a first-year student with a declared major in the College of Agriculture
- Enroll in the AGRI 1500 Ag Residential College experience course in the fall and spring semesters
- Enroll in the AGRI 1001 Introduction to Agriculture course in the fall semester
- Enroll in at least one reserved section for ARC students in general education course options. An academic advisor will assist with this.
College of Agriculture majors: Agricultural Business (AGBU), Agricultural & Extension Education (AGEE), Animal Sciences (ANMLS), Environmental Management Systems (ENSYS), Natural Resource Ecology & Management (NREM), Nutrition and Food Sciences (NFS), Plant & Soil Systems (PLSYS), Textiles, Apparel & Merchandising (TAM)
- Priority course scheduling
- Reserved spaces in courses
- Some courses taught in Blake Hall
- Exclusive access to ag-related programming, hands-on activities, tours, and lab experiences
- Easily make new connections by living and learning with a core group of peers
- Hear from industry leaders at several special-interest lectures and engage in hands-on activities
- Network with faculty members and college administrators
- Access to in-community tutoring and faculty office hours
- Faculty and staff hold office hours and review sessions inside Blake Hall
- Live close to the LSU lakes, Recreational Center and 459 Commons dining hall
During the admitted-student housing application process, select the Agriculture Residential College as your preferred housing option.
You'll receive notice of acceptance into the living-learning program by the spring, and then you can begin searching for and matching with potential roommates.
