Andrew W. Parker Joins LSU Music

Andrew W. Parker, Associate Professor of Oboe
LSU is pleased to welcome Andrew W. Parker as our new Associate Professor of Oboe, beginning in the fall 2024 semester.
An avid performer, educator, and arts administrator, Parker has performed throughout the United States and internationally at some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Kimmel Center, The Long Center, Texas Performing Arts, The Peace Center, Seoul Performing Arts Center, Symphony Space NYC, and Westchester Performing Arts Center, along with many others.
Parker previously held teaching positions as the Assistant Professor of Oboe, Graduate Coordinator, and Summer Music Camp Director at Oklahoma State University, Lecturer of Oboe and Music Technology at Brevard College (NC), and was the Woodwind/Brass coach for the Greenville County Youth Orchestra.
Along with his teaching and performing engagements, Parker has worked extensively in Arts Administration focusing his efforts on arts education. Most recently, he was the Artistic Administrator for the Brevard Music Center, Managing Director of the Yale Philharmonia/New Music New Haven Ensemble, and Orchestra Manager for the Atlantic Music Festival in Waterville, Maine.
Parker received his Bachelor of Music degree from the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music, Master of Music from the Yale University School of Music, and Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Texas at Austin.
"I am beyond excited to join the world renowned faculty at LSU's School of Music and help in the growth of our immensely talented students," Parker said. "I look forward to nurturing them into the next generation of 21st century performers, educators, and leaders in the performing arts. And of course, eat some great Baton Rouge food along the way!
