Become an LSU Future Scholar
The Louisiana State University Future Scholars (LSUFS) Program aims to remove barriers to college enrollment while providing the support and resources needed to complete high school and attend and graduate from LSU. This program seeks to forge educational access pathways for promising seventh to twelfth grade students from economically disadvantaged, historically underserved backgrounds.
All scholars who successfully complete the program and are admitted to LSU will be awarded a full tuition scholarship to Louisiana State University (applied after all applicable federal and state financial aid).
This program is dedicated to empowering young students to achieve their full potential through mentorship and guidance from the faculty, staff, current students and alumni of LSU.
The LSU Future Scholars program seeks to:
- forge an educational access pathway for economically disadvantaged, underserved Louisiana students to LSU into postsecondary spaces while fostering a prepared and diverse regional workforce
- create a pipeline of students from surrounding middle and high schools to ensure access to higher education
- remove barriers to enrolling into college and providing support and resources to successfully navigate college and mitigate potential obstacles when transitioning to college
- increase the number of low income, highly motivated Louisiana students to complete high school, attend, and graduate from LSU
- develop and cultivate relationships with Louisiana school districts to identify, prepare, and offer tuition scholarships to Louisiana students
- Regular school site visits offering interactions with college students, mentors, and university faculty members
- Saturday seminars that will occur once a month
- Tuition free pre-college preparation summer residential experience on Louisiana State University Campus
- On campus orientation, academic preparation, and culture events throughout the school years leading up to high school graduation
- Intense advisement, tutoring, mentoring, and standardized test preparation classes
- Meet the financial guidelines and submit the requested documentation
- Be highly recommended by one staff person in school
- Be in good academic standing or demonstrate commitment to improving
- Support from family to participate (defined by parent/guardian signing an LSU Future Scholars contract)
- Submit a copy of your report card and the online application
