Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education
LSU Faculty Job Satisfaction Survey
2021 Survey Results
Spring of 2021, LSU partnered with the Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher
Education (COACHE) , administered by the Harvard Graduate School of Education to field
a faculty job satisfaction survey, the first of its kind on the LSU campus. COACHE
allows LSU to collect information from faculty (tenured, pre-tenured, and non-tenured)
on a range of issues, benchmarked against peer institutions. These efforts are part
of LSU’s commitment to improve university response to faculty retention and satisfaction.
Thanks to enthusiastic participation from our faculty, LSU had a significant response
rate from eligible faculty (49%), far exceeding average response rates for our peers.
Data collection is just the first step in this faculty-driven process. A cohort of
COACHE Faculty fellows is being recruited to conduct a deep dive into the data, and
in spring 2022, these faculty will be sharing reports with the LSU community, and
additional programming will be scheduled to ensure faculty have the opportunity to
engage with these data.
