LSU partners with global technology company (November 13, 2017)

Today, Gov. Edwards announced a transformational economic development win for Louisiana and for LSU. DXC, a global information technology services company, announced this afternoon that it is setting up operations in New Orleans. In terms of jobs, this is the state's largest-ever economic development win.

Maxwell Gruver's death was a tragedy not only for his family, but for the entire LSU community. Surrounding allegations of hazing are troubling and not to be taken lightly. The University's position on this has been clear from the start: hazing is dangerous and unacceptable, and it will not be tolerated on this campus.

While our campus was primarily spared from damage, many in our Tiger family suffered ruinous damage to their homes during last week's flooding. I know that many of your lives are in upheaval, and we want to help. I have asked the Baton Rouge Area Foundation to establish an LSU Employee Assistance Fund, and they readily agreed to do so. The fund will help LSU employees who are affected by disasters and hardships such as this recent flood.

Welcome to the fall semester! We start this academic year with a sense of determination -- we know that many of our students, faculty, and staff members suffered incredible damage from the flood, and we are committed to helping our friends and family get back on their feet after such devastation. I encourage you to be as supportive as possible and provide flexibility where possible. The road to recovery is a long one, but we will make it through by working together.
