Women's and Gender Studies is an interdisciplinary program that examines the multiple
roles gender plays in everyday life, the impacts of gendered practices on social,
cultural, and political behavior and thought, and the intersections of gender, race,
sexuality, ability, age, and class.
Our courses examine topics such as women in culture and history; gender and race, class, and sexuality; gender in literature, politics, the law, and the sciences.
Founded in 1991, we offer a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Women's and Gender Studies, an undergraduate minor, and a graduate minor. We are proud to include faculty from every college at LSU, who represent over 25 departments.
